This strange, hydrocarbon-rich planet named Fermat V has strange alien creatures made of some sort of rubber that resemble anthropomorphic Terran animals and dinosaurs. While capable of speaking Terran English, these creatures refused to communicate with us for long, simply asking us for compressed gases and other things that we cannot part with. Unluckily for the Columbia, a Hermes-class scoutship assisting in the establishment of a deuterium processing plant on the planet, these creatures seem to be a bit hungry for their equipment.
This planet possesses strange ruins, and the rubbery inhabitants of the planet pray to some sort of bizarre dragon god. This creature is similar to them in composition given his appearance in various paintings, albeit far larger in size. Analysis of the degraded pigments on these paintings is currently underway, and I suspect that "he"...given the rather...um...lurid depictions of a certain part of his anatomy, may have had something to do with the destruction of the planet's native civilization and the modification of its biosphere. (I have taken a few minute-after pills to ensure that I don't remember that one image...eeew.)
Stripped of his type I phaser for unauthorized discharge of it against one stegosaurus-shaped creature, Lieutenant Jeremy Sievertson had no choice but to defend part of an equipment cache against one of these creatures with a flashlight and knife. Luckily someone managed to help him burn the deflated corpse, although it did result in a brush fire due to the unusual flammability of the plant life here.
"Captain, if we build this deuterium processing facility here, Bad Things will end up happening. Not funny things or cute things...the inhabitants of this planet, in spite of their lack of sharp edges, are greedy, obsessive sociopaths." *Dun dun dunnnh!*
All this and more will be on next week's episode of Star Trek: Columbia..."Pernicious Polymers."
This will be available as a print from me. It will be somewhat cropped down and available in a 16"Wx9"H size. I could have a larger version made, but I'd have to charge you $30 for it and there would be a bit of a delay since it takes longer for the print shop to run off larger prints.
There's nothing like Added Alliterative Appeal, right?

This has got quite the detail in. I mean, check out the dude's hair. I'm a sucker for skipping backgrounds, let alone detailed ones, and I really can't fault this one. Very well done.

Well, would you prefer it if the away team from the Columbia and the assorted technicians, engineers, and other service personnel who went to set up the deuterium plant all died horribly?

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
